The rail station provides connections to Heathrow Airport via the Heathrow Express every 15 minutes. It also is the base for First Great Western which serves Reading, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea and Oxford amongst others.

Paddington Tube Station is on the Circle, District, Bakerloo and Hammersmith & City lines. Nearby stations include Marylebone, Piccadilly Circus, Notting Hill and Euston.

Paddington Train Station & Local History

Paddington Station was designed by one of Britain’s greatest civil engineers Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Paddington train station and the rich history of Paddington are synonymous, you can’t have one without the other. In operation since 1838, it became the initial Western Terminus for the metropolitan Railway, the World’s first underground rail system. The introduction of the steam train iconised Britain’s Industrial Revolution. Connecting new industrial advances to emerging markets, the economy of London and England began to boom.

The station is now a Grade 1 listed and recently renovated by Network Rail, it is now arguably the most significant historical railway station in the World.

Today, operating 14 platforms Paddington station is a beating heart in the centre of the complex London rail system, servicing West London and the Surrounding English countryside. It is served by the Bakerloo, Circle, District and the Hammersmith & City lines. Today, an estimated 60,000 people use Paddington Station every day.

Luggage: There is a manned luggage office run by the Excess Baggage Company. Situated on platform 12, Monday – Sunday: 07:00 – 23:00.

Taxi, Buses and Underground: There is a taxi rank present and there is always a line of London’s famous black cabs waiting. Behind the cab rank are local bus stops to all over London. Escalators down to the Underground Tube Station are from within the railway station.
